This is a method designed by Jim Minion for quickly and easily lighting a WSM. In my opinion this is the only true way to light a WSM.
First step is to fill the bottom ring with charcoal and mix in some of your favorite smoking wood in chunks (I perfer to use chunks over chips because chips just burn up way to quickly).
After that put about 15-20 charcoal briquettes into your charcoal chimmey and light. This is a great use for that propane torch that should be floating around your kitchen.
After the charcoal has greyed over in the chimmey dump it and spread it over the unlit charcoal in the base. Assemble the WSM and get it up to your desired temperature.
